If you think that gold is only for earrings and diamond only for rings, then think twice and look around again. Believe it or not, the presence of these two famous gems has already reached the territory of technological gadgetsmobile phones to be more specific.

About 1% of the population can afford expensive gadgets. Here is a good list of 10 of the most expensive phones in the planet:

1. Stuart Hughes iPhone 4 Diamond Rose Edition $8 million

Stuart Hughes is the most intriguing name in the field of luxury devices. iPhones to be more specific, never had the chance to escape from the designers impressive hands. The latest iPhone from Stuart is the iPhone 4 Diamond Rose Edition, which comes in an imperial pink 7-kilogram chest cut from a single block of granite and lined with nubuck top-grain leather. Also, it comes with an 8-carat diamond which can be used instead of the pink one. The phones antenna band and backplate are also remade by Stuart using rose gold. The band is adorned with 100 carats of sparkling diamonds and the Apple logo is formed with fifty-three more diamonds. What makes this iPhone more dashing is that its home button is made of platinum and a rare 7.4 carat pink diamond.

2. Goldstriker iPhone 3GS Supreme $3.2 million

If Stuarts Diamond iPhone is way too expensive for you, then you can always choose the designers Number 2. The iPhone 3GS Supreme took 10 months to create and was commissioned by an anonymous Australian gold mining magnate. The whole casing of this iPhone is made of 271 grams of 22ct solid gold while the front bezel is housed with 136 flawless diamonds, all totaling to a massive hit of 68 cts. The phones home button is covered with a single 7.1 carat diamond, too.

3. Peter Aloissons Kings Button iPhone – $2.4 million

The Kings Button iPhone is a jewel-bedecked iPhone 3G, the sides of which are adorned with one hundred and thirty-eight brilliant-cut diamonds. But the winning element of this phone lies not on its sides but on its home button, which is a rare 6.6 carat white diamond.

4. Goldvish Le Million Piece Unique – $1.3 million

Emmanuel Gueit designed the most expensive mobile phone of a Geneva-based luxury communications company. The Goldvish Le Million Piece Unique is made of 18k white gold and is set with 20 carats of VVS1 diamonds, which are only microscopically flawed. The phones technical features include Bluetooth, 2 GB storage, FM radio, digital camera and MP3 playback. This mobile phone is available by special order only. Dreaming of when you can ever make that one special order?

5. The Diamond Crypto Smartphone $1.3 million

The Diamond Crypto Smartphone is created by the luxury accessory producer, Peter Aloisson. The cover of this smartphone is adorned with 50 diamonds, including eight that are rare blue diamonds. Also, the Ancort logo and navigation key are made of 18k rose gold. The phone is built on Windows CE, featuring a high-resolution color TFT display and a 256 bit cryptographic algorithm. Its other features include SMS, MMS, e-mail and internet capability, WAP, Java support and a media player.

6. Gresso Luxor Las Vegas Jackpot $1 million

The famous line What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas did not work quite well with this phone. The Gresso Luxor Las Vegas Jackpot phone is an ultra-exclusive phone which is limited to only three units. The phones bezel is made of 45.5 carats of black diamond and the back panel is made from 200-year-old African blackwood, which is the most expensive wood in the world. Whats more alluring is that each key of this phone is cut from a hand-polished sapphire crystal. All of these plush materials are set in a 180-gram solid gold frame. This Jackpot phone has surely lived up to its name, you agree?

7. Vertu Signature Cobra – $310,000

The Signature Cobra, designed by French jeweler Boucheron, is made with two diamonds, two emeralds and 439 rubies. For the record, only eight will ever be made of this exclusive phone. For the rich, however, who cannot afford this flashy phone, another edition is made available for only $115,000. This phone is still the same with the Signature Cobra but now, its minus the rubies. Only 26 of this will ever be made. What makes this phone more captivating is its signature logothe cobra snake.

8. Sony Ericsson Black Diamond $300,000

Sony Ericssons Black Diamond is the only phone hailed as one of the most expensive not because of the presence of shiny and dazzling rocks but because of the existence of real state-of-the-art technology. The entire face of the phone is covered with polycarbonate skin and underlying beneath this skin is the OLED Technology, which gives the phones 4-megapixel screen a borderless look. Additionally, its mirror finish gives it a stylish and modern look.

9. Peter Aloissons iPhone Princess Plus – $176,400

Why Princess Plus for a name? Well, this is because of the Princess cut used on 138 of the 318 diamonds on the phones surface. The remaining 180 diamonds were brilliant-cut. This phone, designed by Peter Aloisson, has a total of 17.75 carats of diamonds set in 18k white gold around its rim. This model costs $176,700 but the Brilliants only version is sold for a lesser price of $66,150.

10. Nokia 8800 Arte with pink diamonds – $134,000

The Nokia 8800 Arte is a solid 18k white gold phone which features over 680 pink and white brilliant-cut diamonds, totaling over 21.5 carats. The phones technical features are a 3.15 megapixel camera with autofocus and video, a music player, a voice memo and a Bluetooth. This phone is designed by Peter Aloisson.

We dont know what is yet to come from the future generation. We dont know how much the affluent few will be willing to pay for the design of future phones. Either luxury or technology itself will make future phones more expensive. This is indeed a very lucrative business to dive for when youre in dire need of moneyif and only if your design passes the taste of the affluent 1% of the population.
